Joel Osteen's Mother Healed of Terminal Liver Cancer by Her Faith in God's Promises

Dodie Osteen's Healing

Dodie Osteen, Joel Osteen's mother, was diagnosed with terminal
liver cancer. What do you do when the doctors say it's terminal,
no hope? Dodie had a choice. She could give up or go to a
higher authority. She went to the higher authority, Jesus Christ. He
said in His Word that, "He sent forth his word and healed them;
he rescues them from the grave" (Psalm 107:20).

Dodie Osteen decided to stand on God's Word and
three times a day spoke and declared healing scriptures until
her healing was manifested. I might add, during this time while she
felt so sick she did not stay in bed but moved about her house
as if she was healed. James 2:17 says, "Even so faith, if it
hath not works, is dead, being alone." She was acting on her
faith even though her body was telling her she was sick.
Cancer is no match for God's Word when it is believed and
acted upon. Dodie Osteen is a living testimony of the mighty
power of God's Word released through faith.

Healing Scriptures Used by Dodie Osteen

Take healing scriptures like you would take medicine.
Dodie Osteen, Joel Osteen's mother, said the following
scriptures three times a day. The result? She was healed
of terminal liver cancer. The more you speak and
meditate on God's healing scriptures, the quicker the
results. These are a some of the scriptures she used.

Exodus 15:26 And said, If thou wilt diligently
hearken to the voice of the Lord thy God, and wilt do
that which is right in his sight, and wilt give ear to
his commandments, and keep all his statutes, I will
put none of these diseases upon thee, which I have
brought upon the Egyptians: for I am the Lord that
healeth thee.

Deuteronomy 7:15 And the Lord will take away from you all
sickness, and will afflict you with none of the terrible
diseases of Egypt which you have known, but will lay them
on all those who hate you.

Psalm 91:16 With long life will I satisfy him,
and shew him my salvation.

Psalm 107:20 He sent his word, and healed them, and
delivered them from their destructions.

Psalm 118:17 I shall not die, but live, and declare the
works of the Lord.

Proverbs 4:20-22 My son, give attention to my words;
incline your ear to my sayings. Do not let them depart
from your eyes; keep them in the midst of your heart; For
they are life to those who find them, and health to all
their flesh.

Jeremiah 30:17a For I will restore health unto thee,
and I will heal thee of thy wounds, saith the Lord.

Galatians 3:13,14 Christ hath redeemed us from the curse of
the law (sickness, poverty, spiritual death), being made a
curse for us: for it is written, Cursed is every one that hangeth
on a tree: That the blessing of Abraham might come on the Gentiles
through Jesus Christ; that we might receive the promise of the
Spirit through faith.

1 Peter 2:24 Who his own self bare our sins in his own body
on the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live unto
righteousness: by whose stripes (wounds) ye were healed.

How I Used Mark 11:24 to Get Back an Expensive Lost Item

True story. My mother had lost a $1400 heart monitor. Based on Mark
11:24, I asked God the Father in Jesus' name to help us retrieve
this item that was only loaned to her and if not returned to the hospital would cost her $1400. I trusted God heard my prayer and had answered my prayer. Within one hour someone from the hospital had found the heart monitor and graciously returned it to the hospital authorities. They called us and I went and retrieved the lost item. My mother was able to return the item when she was done with it without having to pay $1400 for a lost heart monitor.

What was the key to getting my prayer answered? I had to believe that
when I prayed, God heard my prayer and gave me the title deed (ownership) to what I was asking for, the return of the heart monitor. Faith is believing you've got it before you actually have it in your hands. It wasn't in my hands when I prayed, but I had the title deed (ownership - because I believed God heard and answered my prayer).

God the Father answers prayer when faith, His will, and the name
of Jesus are used correctly.

Bessy's Awesome Healing Testimony

Bessy was told by her doctor she had cancer. She was doomed to die. But Bessy went to the Lord in prayer and He told her she would receive the manifestation of her healing when His Word became more real to her than the cancer. So she soaked up the healing scriptures until they became more real to her than the cancer. Result? She lived. Nothing, not even cancer can overcome the power of God's Word spoken by faith.

How to Overcome Sickness, Poverty, Fear or Any Other Curse of the Law in Your Life

When God's Word becomes more real to you than the sickness, fear, poverty, lack, etc. in your life then that problem has to go. For according to Deuteronomy 28:15-68, sickness, fear, poverty, lack, etc. are a curse of the law, but according to Galatians 3:13 Jesus Christ redeemed you from the curse of the law. In other words, Jesus Christ paid the price for your deliverance from the curse of the law by becoming a curse for you on the cross. You have been set free!

So, how do you get God's Word to become more real to you than the sickness, poverty, fear, lack etc. in your life? Simple. Your mind has to become renewed to the truth of God's Word by hearing you say it over and over until
your heart is convinced God's Word is true and more real than your
problem or circumstance.

"For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with mouth
confession is made unto salvation" (Romans 10:10).

"So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God"
(Romans 10:17).

To overcome the curse of the law (sickness, poverty, fear, lack,
etc.), set aside some time each day and declare by faith:

"According to Deuteronomy 28:15-68 (insert the problem here; sickness,
poverty, fear, lack, etc.) is a curse of the law, but according to
Galatians 3:13, Jesus Christ redeemed me from the curse of the
law, therefore I don't have (insert the problem here; sickness, poverty, fear, lack, etc.)."

How to Get God's Promises to Become Real in Your Life

If you want God's promises to become real in your life, then take the promise you want to become real in your life and begin speaking that promise out of your mouth until faith comes to cause the promise to be manifested.

Let me give you an example. Let's say you want to have the peace of God
manifested in your life. Find a few scriptures on peace, personalize them
and begin on a daily basis thinking on them and speaking them out of your mouth during your daily private time of worshipping the Lord Jesus Christ. And yes, you should set aside a private time each day to thank, praise and
worship the Lord Jesus Christ as you make your scripture promise declarations. Jesus Christ is worthy of your thanksgiving, praise and worship. After all, He died for you.

Here is a sample of a personalized scripture promise you could make if you
were wanting to experience the peace of God in your life:

"Great peace have I because I love the Word of God and nothing shall offend me" This is taken from Psalm 119:165. Do the same with two other scriptures on peace.

Another example. Let's say you wanted the wisdom of God in your life to make correct decisions. Here is a personalized scripture promise declaration:

"Because Jesus Christ is made unto me wisdom and I have the mind of Christ,
therefore I always make wise decisions." Taken from 1 Corinthians 1:30 and
1 Corinthians 2:16. Do the same with two other scriptures on wisdom.

You can use this same formula for receiving healing, financial prosperity,
joy, love, victory or anything God has promised you in His Word.

What the Lord Told Charles Capps About Faith and Patience

Charles Capps is a world renowned teacher on faith in God's Word.
At the very start of his faith career, learning of the creative power of speaking God's Word, he became discouraged. Discouraged because he didn't think the promises were true in him. So, he went to the Lord in prayer and told the Lord he didn't believe the promises were true in him. The Lord told him what to do. He was to keep speaking God's promises and eventually they would become real and true in his life. He obeyed the Lord and the promises did became real to him. His life was changed forever.

God's Word vs. the Destructive Strongholds of the Mind

If you are experiencing poverty or lack, you might feel you are lying when you say you are blessed and have abundance according to Galatians 3:14 and John 10:10b. Or when the doctor says you are sick and dying, you might think you are lying when you say you are healed by His stripes and will live and not die and "declare the works of the Lord" according to 1 Peter 2:24 and Psalm 118:17. Or when your mind and life seem in turmoil, you could feel you are lying when you boldly say the peace of God rules in your heart according to Psalm 119:165. But when you speak God's Word you are not lying because God's Word is truth and God cannot lie according to Titus 1:2.

You see, your mind is the battleground and it can have many strongholds
of doubt and unbelief that would try to keep you convinced the promises
of God will never become real in your life. But God's Word is like a giant
wrecking ball that if spoken in faith consistently will demolish and tear down any mountain of doubt and unbelief.

So, the key is not to give up but expect, expect, and expect God's Word to become real in you as you daily declare your deliverance, the glorious promises of God. Be patient and God's promises will manifest in your life.

"Let us hold fast the profession of our faith without wavering; (for he is
faithful that promised;)" (Hebrews 10:23).

And wow! When a promise of God explodes in your heart and its reality is manifested in you, then you will truly understand what Jesus meant when He said in John 8:32:

"And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free."

Living by Faith

Faith Walk: Why do we need to know how to live by faith and not by sight?

The Bible says in Romans 1:17b, "The just shall live by faith."

1 John 5:4 says:

"For whosoever is born of God overcometh the world: and this is the victory that overcometh the world, even our faith."

Hebrews 11:6 it says:

"But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him."

You can’t be saved without faith.

“For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast” (Ephesians 2:8 KJV).

So, to be saved and live an overcoming life that pleases God you need
to have faith, faith in God and faith in His Word. Let us continue
our understanding of how to live by faith.

You have been given the measure of faith to live by faith and not by sight

“God hath dealt to every man the measure of faith” (Romans 12:3b KJV).

However, you have to know how to use it. You see, your faith is like a mechanic’s tool and if you don’t know how to use the tool, then it won’t do you much good. Same way with faith, if you don’t know how to use it, your faith won’t do you much good. Also, your faith is like a muscle, if you don’t develop it, then it will remain weak and of little use.

What is faith?

Faith is a substance. Faith is evidence. Faith gives substance to what you hope to come to pass.

“Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen”
(Hebrews 11:1 KJV).

Faith is an action. Faith without corresponding action is dead. Active faith gives substance to what you hope to come to pass.

“Even so faith, if it hath not works (corresponding action), is dead, being alone“ (James 2:17 KJV).

Faith is trusting whatever God has said is true.

Faith is believing and acting on the Word of God.

What is hope?

Hope is your goal setter. Without a goal (hope), your faith has nothing to focus on and give substance to. Hope is the like the 70 degrees you set your thermostat to in your home. You set the thermostat to 70 degrees (your goal, your hope) and the heating furnace unit (your faith) goes to work to heat your house to 70 degrees (your goal, your hope).

“Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen” (Hebrews 11:1 KJV).

God’s promises give you all the hope you will ever need.

Can words move mountains?
How did Jesus supersede the laws of physics?

There are amazing similarities between the teachings of Jesus and the discoveries of the new physics, quantum theory. The concept of speaking to mountains and trees may not be religious metaphor, but laws of a new physics that have not been fully understood.

Jesus taught that our words are powerful enough to move physical matter. Quantum physics has discovered that subatomic particles respond to the observer.

How to Get an Answer to Prayer

If you have a problem in your life, God wants to solve your problem through your prayer of faith to Him. Never underestimate the power of God to answer your prayer. Matthew 19:26b says, “With God all things are possible.”

1. Find a scripture(s) to be a base, a foundation for your prayer, like Mark 11:24, John 16:23 or 1 John 5:14,15.

“Therefore I say unto you, what things soever ye desire, when ye pray, believe that ye receive them, and ye shall have them”(Mark 11:24 KJV).

2. Make sure your prayer request is God’s will.

God’s Word is His will. If you are asking for something outside of His will then your prayer will not get answered. That is why it is so important to read God’s Word on a regular basis so you will know what His will is.

You could ask a mature trusted pastor who is well grounded in the Word if your prayer is in line with God’s will. However, if that pastor has been taught incorrectly, he could give you the wrong answer, so ask more that one mature Christian. However, it is best to go yourself to God the Father in Jesus’ name and ask Him if your prayer is His will.

3. Ask in faith knowing that when you pray He has heard your prayer.

1 John 5:14,15 encourages you to trust He has heard your prayer and answered your pray when your prayer is in line with His will.

“And this is the confidence that we have in him, that, if we ask any thing according to his will, he heareth us: And if we know that he hear us, whatsoever we ask, we know that we have the petitions (prayers) that we desired (asked) of Him” (1 John 5:14,15 KJV).
Also, always direct your prayer to your Heavenly Father and ask Him for what you want in Jesus’ name.

4. Once you have asked God the Father in Jesus’ name for what you desire then you must believe you have received the answer (the title deed so to speak) to what you have hoped to come to pass..

In other words you must believe you have it before you actually see it come to pass. That’s faith.

Remember, you always ask the Father in Jesus' name. The name of Jesus gives you access to having your prayers answered by your Heavenly Father.

5. You release your faith in God’s promise that He has heard and answered your prayer by acting like you believe you have “it” (your prayer answered) now. That’s faith.

You release your faith in your prayer being answered by thanking Him, praising Him and worshipping Him for answering your prayer.

6. Thanking, praising and worshipping God gives substance to what you hoped to come to pass.

Your thanking, praising and worshipping is your faith being released. Your prayer based on God’s scripture promise is your hope. Your hope becomes reality the moment you believe you receive even though you might not have the instant manifestation of your prayer being answered.

In other words , faith says I’ve got it even though I can’t see it. Faith says the instant I prayed I got it. Doubt says I don’t have it now because I don’t see it or feel it. Faith says God says I have it now because He cannot lie.

“Therefore I say unto you , What things soever ye desire, when ye pray, believe that ye receive them (believe you have it the instant you prayed, not some time in the future), and ye shall have them” (Mark 11:24 KJV). That’s faith.
